Lombok to Komodo 4 days 3 nights is a one-way boat trip, described by the operator Asik Travel as running from Kayangan Harbour on Lombok to Labuan Bajo on Flores, with a long overnight crossing. The flight between the two takes seventy-five minutes by the same operator's account, so the boat is a choice of journey rather than transport.

What is the Lombok to Komodo 4 days 3 nights boat trip?

It is a one-way passage, so you finish on a different island from the one you left. Asik Travel describes four days and three nights by boat, one way, from Kayangan Harbour to Labuan Bajo. Come2Indonesia, a travel seller, also sells a cabin version as a cruise. UNESCO places the park between Sumbawa and Flores. Ask each seller for its written programme of stops on the way. This boat is a different product from the Labuan Bajo round trip that our Komodo 4D3N guide describes.

Sellers do not all use the same words. "Cruise" and "boat tour" may describe the same kind of product or something quite different, and the reliable way to tell is to read the sleeping and inclusion details line by line. Two of the published figures for these trips, and one seller's excluded-fee figure, are in the price table on this page.

How is it different from a Labuan Bajo trip?

A Labuan Bajo round trip starts and ends in the same town and spends its time inside and around the park. The Lombok boat spends a large part of its schedule getting there. That changes what you are buying, and the table below sets out the practical differences. It follows from the logic of a one-way route.

On cost, Komodo Touristic, a seller, gives different estimated shared costs for Labuan Bajo and Lombok departures, so read that comparison as one seller's figures. Exclusions need checking too. Come2Indonesia leaves park fees and a further wildlife fee out of its price. Excluded fees are not peculiar to this route, either: The Guy Travel's account of a shorter trip also had park and ranger fees outside the package, with advice to bring cash.

The sellers cited here describe only the Lombok to Labuan Bajo direction. Ask a seller whether it runs the other way, and get a yes in writing.

Deck or cabin?

This is the biggest decision on the route, and the published range reflects it. Asik Travel's range runs from deck to cabin, and Come2Indonesia sells a cabin version. Wikivoyage, a community guide with undated detail, describes deck sleeping on thin mattresses on Lombok-to-Flores boat trips.

So three nights on deck is a real possibility at the lower end of the range. Before paying, ask:

  • Where exactly would you sleep, and on what? Ask for a photo of the actual boat.
  • How many people share the deck, the toilets and the showers?
  • Where does your luggage go, and does it stay dry?
  • If you book a cabin, is it air-conditioned and is the bathroom your own?

The answers on sleeping conditions have to come from the seller, in writing, for your departure.

What about the overnight crossing?

Asik Travel says the trip includes a long overnight crossing. That description has to be read alongside a rule from January 2026, when the Labuan Bajo harbourmaster ordered tourist boats in park waters to stop sailing at night and to drop anchor once it is dark. The rule as reported concerns park waters, so a crossing outside them may fall beyond it, but the full text of the order is not something we can quote. Read the page on the night sailing ban, then ask each seller how its route handles the rule today, and where the boat is at nightfall on each of the three nights.

A seller's published description may not reflect current practice, and we do not rate individual sellers on safety. The question to put to them is about their actual route and schedule, and a vague answer is itself useful information.

Season adds another uncertainty. Seek Sophie's position is that few boats run between January and March, one-day speedboats aside. That claim concerns the Komodo area in general, and other sources date the wet months differently, as the page on seasons shows. Check any early-year departure on this route with particular care.

Is it worth it versus flying?

Opinions on the Lombok boat divide along a clear line. Seek Sophie, a booking agency, says it would not recommend it. Asik Travel and Come2Indonesia sell it. The agency's view still comes from a business with its own product range, so neither side is a neutral referee.

The time comparison, at least, is stark. Asik Travel gives seventy-five minutes for the Wings Air nonstop from Praya to Labuan Bajo, and Wikipedia's airport page also lists Wings Air to Lombok among regional routes. Routes change, so check with the airline. See the page on flights to Labuan Bajo for the wider picture.

Those seventy-five minutes do not include the park, though. A flyer still needs a boat from Labuan Bajo, which means a further few days and a further price. A fair comparison sets the Lombok boat against the flight plus a Labuan Bajo trip of the same length, with every fee included on both sides.

The boat makes the most sense if you are already in Lombok, have time, want the sea journey itself, and can accept the sleeping arrangements you have confirmed. Flying makes more sense if your days are limited, you want a cabin and a shorter time at sea, or you are uneasy about an overnight crossing. That is our reading of the trade-off, and only you can weigh it.

What do travellers report on the Lombok boat?

Wandering Nomada, a travel blog updated in August 2025, calls the four-day tour from Lombok a mass tourism trip. The post carries affiliate links. Its writer says the boat carried more than its stated limit of 40, with most guests on deck, and that most activities fell on day three. The whale sharks at the morning stop, it says, were feeding on what fishermen dropped, with tour boats crowded around, and the writer stayed out of the water. The same blog says that boat sailed back from Labuan Bajo with only 12 people, on one departure. Leigh Turner, a travel writer describing a January 2023 crossing, reports a late start, a missed whale shark stop and arrival in Labuan Bajo around 22:30 on day four. Those are single trips with single sellers, and another seller may run differently. Ask how many guests are booked and where they sleep.

What else do people ask about the Lombok route?

Is the Lombok to Komodo boat worth it?

Views differ. Seek Sophie says it would not recommend it, while sellers including Asik Travel and Come2Indonesia offer it. It suits someone who wants the journey itself and has confirmed the sleeping arrangements, and it costs time compared with flying.

How long is the Lombok to Komodo boat?

Asik Travel describes four days and three nights, one way, from Kayangan Harbour to Labuan Bajo, including a long overnight crossing. Ask each seller for its own programme, as details can differ.

How do you fly from Lombok to Labuan Bajo?

On Asik Travel's account Wings Air covers Praya to Labuan Bajo nonstop in seventy-five minutes, and Wikipedia lists Wings Air to Lombok among the airport's regional routes. Check the current schedule with the airline.

What is the Lombok to Labuan Bajo boat trip like?

That depends on the boat and the ticket. Wikivoyage describes deck sleeping on thin mattresses, in undated detail, while Come2Indonesia sells a cabin version. Ask for photos and written details of your own sleeping place and of the night crossing.

Should you sail from Lombok to Labuan Bajo or fly?

Fly if time is short, because the flight takes seventy-five minutes by Asik Travel's account. Sail if the sea journey is the point. Compare the boat with a flight plus a Labuan Bajo trip of equal length, with all fees included.

Which published prices did we check?

Official fees and public third-party listings, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Fees and fares change, and sources sometimes disagree, so check the source before you rely on a figure.
