Published listings for a Komodo 4 days 3 nights route pair the central park with either the north or the south, and a separate one-way boat sails from Lombok. Orders are not fixed: Maika Dive says its captain may change route for current or wind, and Hello Flores ties some stops to season and tide, so choose by area and ask for the intended plan in writing before you pay.
Which Komodo 4 days 3 nights route do boats sail?
Booking listings show two main shapes. On Liveaboard.com, the Cajoma IV entry reads Central and North and the Maria Seascape entry reads Central and South, both as 4D3N trips. Those labels give the most practical way to read the park: three sailing areas, with the central section common to both and one further direction added on top. Maika Dive, an operator, describes the same logic for its own boats: central Komodo on its 3-day route, with the north added on its 4-day route. Route is one decision inside a longer one, and our main guide to Komodo 4 days 3 nights covers the rest.
Looking for one classic sailing route will not get you far. Three operators publish three different orders for a four-day trip, and the sites overlap far more than the sequence does. A third shape sits outside the Labuan Bajo loop altogether: a one-way crossing from Lombok.
| Route shape | Who publishes it | What the source says | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central and North | Liveaboard.com listing for Cajoma IV | Gives the label only | Which northern stops are planned, and whether they are for divers only |
| Central, then north | Maika Dive, for its own route | Its fourth day adds the north to central Komodo | Whether another boat with the same trip length does the same |
| Central and South | Liveaboard.com listing for Maria Seascape | Direction on longer trips follows season and conditions | Which months send this boat south, and what replaces the plan if conditions change |
| One-way from Lombok | Asik Travel, an operator | Four days and three nights from Kayangan Harbour to Labuan Bajo | How you continue from Labuan Bajo once the boat ends |
What does a Central and North route cover?
Liveaboard.com gives only the label for Cajoma IV, so no stop list goes with it. Two other operators' samples, not labelled by region, show how differently four days can be divided. Maika Dive's 4-day routine is built around diving. Hello Flores, another operator, publishes a sample built around viewpoints and snorkelling stops. Neither is a schedule you can hold anyone to.
| Day | Maika Dive routine | Hello Flores sample |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sebayur Kecil, Tatawa Besar, Crystal Bay night dive | Siaba Besar or Sebayur, Taka Makassar, Manta Point |
| 2 | Crystal Rock, Castle Rock, The Cauldron, Padar night dive; snorkellers go to Gili Lawa hiking and Crystal Bay | Padar sunrise, Pink Beach, dragons |
| 3 | Padar hiking, Komodo Island trekking, Pink Beach, Mawan | Manjarite, Gili Lawa Darat, Kalong |
| 4 | Siaba Besar, Batu Bolong or Taka Makassar for snorkellers, Manta Point | Kanawa, Kelor |
Route names hide a basic point: which islands you see on a Komodo 4D3N depends partly on whether you are aboard as a diver or a snorkeller. On Maika's own plan, the two spend part of day two at different places. Komodo Boat Tour, a third operator, runs through Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar and Manta Point before a last stop at Kanawa or Sebayur, which reads as snorkel-led island hopping and not a dive plan.
The stop-level detail for the northern end is on the north Komodo 4-day trip page, and full day plans are on the published itineraries page.
What does a Central and South route cover?
Far less is published. The Maria Seascape listing gives the label and says direction on longer trips follows season and conditions, but stop lists for the southern end are thin. Treat any list you are given as specific to that boat and that month, and ask for the southern stops by name, because the word "south" on a listing does not say how far south a boat goes.
Manta Alley is the one southern site with a published distance. A peer-reviewed manta study puts it about 35.5 km from Karang Makassar and Mawan, the two central sites in that research, which are themselves about 5 km apart. Those figures come from a scientific paper, not a timetable, and we do not convert them into sailing hours. They do show that central and south are not interchangeable stops on one morning. What little is known about boats heading that way is collected on the south Komodo 4-day trip page.
Who decides the direction?
You choose the boat and the listing. Which way it goes then depends on the seller's terms, at two different moments:
- Before departure, by season. The Maria Seascape entry ties the north-or-south choice on longer trips to season and conditions, so ask whether the month you book affects which way this boat heads.
- During the trip, by the captain. Maika Dive's 3-day page lets the captain change the route, hold back departure or reschedule, and pick other sites when current or wind runs strong.
Boat route flexibility therefore cuts against you if a single stop is the reason for your trip. Put these questions to a provider before paying:
- Which direction is planned for my dates, and what would change it?
- Which stops are named commitments, and which are examples?
- Do divers and snorkellers follow the same stops each day?
- Can you mark the intended stops on a Komodo 4D3N map, so I can compare it with other offers?
- If the plan changes on the water, what does your written contract say?
How does the Lombok route differ?
It is a different product, not a variation. Asik Travel describes it as a four-day, three-night one-way boat from Kayangan Harbour to Labuan Bajo. Everything else on this page assumes you board and leave in Labuan Bajo, so the choices do not transfer: the Lombok boat spends its four days travelling between two places rather than circling one park. It suits someone who wants the crossing itself and has an onward plan from Labuan Bajo. Read the one-way Lombok route page before you compare it with a park loop on price or number of stops.
What do currents have to do with it?
Sea conditions and route cannot be separated in Komodo. Whirlpools and currents above 10 knots run in the water separating Rinca from Komodo, according to Wikipedia. Hello Flores makes three popular stops conditional as well: access to Siaba Besar, Taka Makassar and Manta Point, it says, relies on the dry season and a calm tide.
The manta study's distances help explain what a captain can do about it. With Karang Makassar and Mawan about 5 km apart, a swap between nearby sites looks like a small change. A gap of 35.5 km is another matter, which is one reason to read a route as a plan for an area and not a promise about a site. Sailing times between stops are left out because dependable figures are not published.
Which route fits which trip?
None of these is a recommendation of a boat. They are ways to narrow the question before you compare offers:
- Divers set on the rocks in the north. Castle Rock and Crystal Rock are what Maika Dive says its longer route gains, so look for a Central and North label and read the dives, currents and levels page before you assume you qualify.
- Non-divers. The label matters less than the stop list. Compare named stops, because a snorkel-led plan and a dive plan can share a direction and little else.
- Anyone with one must-see stop. No route name protects it. Ask what replaces that stop if the captain changes the day.
- Travellers already in Lombok. The one-way crossing avoids a flight into Labuan Bajo but gives you the crossing in place of a park loop, so compare it as a separate trip.
Once a route looks right, price it on Komodo 4D3N cost, choose a vessel on Komodo 4D3N boat types and settle shared or private. If the north is your reason for a fourth day, read what the extra day adds.
Which route questions come up before booking?
What are the best routes for a 4 day 3 night Komodo trip?
No neutral ranking is published. Listings show Central and North or Central and South, and the Maria Seascape listing says direction on longer trips follows season and conditions, so the useful question is which route a boat plans for your dates.
Which islands are included in a 4 day 3 night Komodo tour?
It varies by operator. Padar and Pink Beach appear in all three plans published by Maika Dive, Hello Flores and Komodo Boat Tour. Hello Flores writes "dragons" where the other two name Komodo, and Gili Lawa, Kalong, Kelor and Kanawa appear in some plans only.
Is there a fixed order for Komodo Island and Pink Beach?
No. Operators group them on the same day rather than publishing a set passage. Maika Dive lists Padar, Komodo Island, Pink Beach and Mawan on day three, Hello Flores lists Padar, Pink Beach and dragons on day two, and Komodo Boat Tour goes on from Pink Beach and Komodo to Taka Makassar and Manta Point.
What is the route from Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island?
Allow boat time just to reach the park from Labuan Bajo: Seek Sophie, a booking agency, estimates hours and not minutes. Four-day plans stop elsewhere first: Komodo Island trekking falls on day three of Maika Dive's routine.

How do I reach the desk?
Tell the desk your dates, whether anyone in the group dives, and which area matters more to you. It will answer what it can and say what it cannot. A route named in a chat commits nobody; only a written offer binds, and that offer names the price, any fee and the contracting company. Requests through the desk can lead to a paid booking, so we have a commercial interest.

Send the desk your dates, group size, and boat preference. The desk replies in writing.
