A Komodo 4 day dive trip is published at 8 or 12 dives by the operator Maika Dive, with two night dives on its 4-day trip, while Liveaboard.com gives up to 13 on Maria Seascape's longest itinerary. Maika Dive calls some sites high-current, advanced drift dives. Ask the operator in writing what level it requires.

How many dives does a Komodo 4 day dive trip offer?

It depends on the package you buy, and the published numbers do not all describe the same thing. Maika Dive sells 8-dive and 12-dive versions of one four-day trip. Its three-day versus four-day comparison counts night dives separately: one on three days, two on four. Divers are one group within the wider Komodo 4 days 3 nights market, and the home page of this guide covers the format for everyone else.

That last row needs care. The figure of up to 13 applies to Maria Seascape's longest itinerary, so it may not describe the same vessel's 4D3N. With Maika Dive, confirm that both packages contain both night dives, and whether night dives count towards the 8 or 12 or sit on top of them.

A dive count on a sales page is a plan, and the sea can overrule it, so ask what happens to the count if a dive is cancelled. Maika Dive's published ranges by cabin and dive count, plus the park's diving ticket, are in the price table on this page.

Which sites does the extra day add for divers?

Maika Dive says its 4-day trip reaches Castle Rock and Crystal Rock, which its 3-day trip does not, and it adds a second night dive. Its comparison page also describes Castle Rock and Crystal Rock as high-current, advanced drift sites. Those names belong to one operator's plan and another boat may take a different order.

That applies to Maika Dive's own route, so have any site you want named on the plan, with the day. Our page on north Komodo on a 4-day trip covers where northern sites fit, and what the extra day adds weighs the same choice more broadly. If you are still deciding on trip length, see how many days in Komodo.

How strong are the currents?

Strong enough for an operator to warn about them. Maika Dive names current as the biggest surprise for first-time guests. Speed figures and tide tables are not published here, since conditions shift by site and day. Treat any seller's promise of "easy" conditions with suspicion unless it names the site and the state of tide.

Current also appears in accident reporting. The dive boat Feronia sank near Tatawa on 13 October 2026, according to Divernet, which reported that 29 of the 30 aboard were rescued and a divemaster was missing. It said strong, swirling currents are known in that area, and that the boat was there when it listed. The Labuan Bajo harbour authority was reported as saying the boat had the required documents and was considered seaworthy, and a police investigation was open at the time of that report. DIVE Magazine later reported that the search ended on 22 October with no sign of the divemaster or the wreck. Dates, other cases and official advice are collected on is a Komodo boat trip safe.

Is it suitable for new divers?

That depends on your logbook, so be wary of anyone who answers without asking about it. Maika Dive's description of Castle Rock and Crystal Rock as advanced drift sites is an operator's view, and not a certification rule from an authority. The usual questions are whether Open Water divers can join, whether Advanced Open Water is required and how many logged dives are enough. Each operator sets its own answer, so get yours in writing.

Being precise helps you here. Send your certification, your number of logged dives, the date of your last dive and your experience in current. Then ask the following:

  1. What certification and how many logged dives do you require for this trip, and for each site on it?
  2. If a guest does not meet the level for a site, what do they do during that dive, and is there any refund?
  3. How many divers go with each guide?
  4. Who decides whether a dive goes ahead, and what is the alternative when current is too strong?
  5. What rental gear is included, and does the group carry signalling equipment?
  6. Do you require dive insurance, and do you ask for proof of it?

Treat these as questions and not as a training plan. We give no advice on dive technique or fitness to dive; for that, speak with your instructor and a doctor.

What if one person in your group does not dive?

Mixed groups are possible on some boats, but check first. The Cajoma IV listing on Liveaboard.com welcomes non-divers, but that applies to that boat only. Ask what a non-diver does during dives, whether a snorkel guide comes along and whether the sites suit snorkelling at all, because a high-current drift site may not. Our Komodo 4-day snorkeling trip page looks at this from the other side.

What does diving add to the park ticket?

A separate line. Antara's Kupang bureau, reporting from the park office, says diving is ticketed separately, per person per activity, on top of the entry fee. The amount is in the price table on this page. What the report leaves open is how "per activity" is counted across several dives and days, so ask your operator how it charges this and whether the figure is inside your quote. The full picture of fees is on Komodo 4D3N cost.

On Maika Dive's plan snorkellers go to different stops on some dives, so compare published itineraries, Komodo 4D3N boat types and route labels before you sign, and read shared or private if your group fills a boat.

What else do divers ask about four days in Komodo?

How many dives are on a 4 day Komodo trip?

Maika Dive publishes 8-dive and 12-dive versions of its four-day trip. A platform listing gives up to 13 on one boat's longest itinerary, which may not be its four-day plan. Confirm the count for your departure.

How many night dives are on a Komodo 4D3N?

Maika Dive states two on its four-day trip, against one on its three-day trip. Other operators may differ. Ask whether those night dives are counted inside the package total or added to it.

Is Castle Rock suitable for new divers?

Maika Dive describes Castle Rock as a high-current, advanced drift site. That is an operator's view and not an official rule, so ask what level and how many logged dives it requires.

How strong are currents on a Komodo dive trip?

Measured speeds are not published. Maika Dive warns first-time guests about current, and Divernet describes strong, swirling currents near Tatawa. Ask the operator about each site on your plan.

Can non-divers join a Komodo dive trip?

Some boats accept them. The Cajoma IV listing says non-divers are welcome, but that covers only that boat. Ask what a non-diver does during dives and whether the sites suit snorkelling.

Which published prices did we check?

Official fees and public third-party listings, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Fees and fares change, and sources sometimes disagree, so check the source before you rely on a figure.

How do I reach the desk?

Divers: send your certification, logged dives and dates to WhatsApp +62 811-3823-875 or the desk's email. The desk can ask providers about levels and space. It does not run dives, and any place on a boat exists only once a written offer says so. Requests can turn into paid bookings, which gives us a commercial interest.
