A Komodo 4 day trip from Bali is a flight to Labuan Bajo plus time on a boat. One operator puts the flight at about an hour and one travel blog at 1 hour 15 minutes. Plan five or six days away from Bali for four days aboard, since Hello Flores advises an extra travel day and a boat may not wait for a late flight.
Can you do a Komodo 4-day trip from Bali?
Yes, and it has a straightforward shape. You fly from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo, where boats start, and back again. Wikipedia's Komodo Airport page lists Batik Air and Indonesia AirAsia on the Denpasar route as of November 2026. Routes change, so check with the airline before planning around one of them. Once you reach the harbour, the boat part is the Komodo 4D3N format that our main guide explains.
The phrase hides a choice you should make early. "Four days from Bali" can mean four days on a boat, which is what this guide is about, or four days in total including flights, which leaves far less sea time. If your full window from Bali is only four days, a four-day boat will fit only with no margin at all, as the table below shows. Our comparison of how many days to spend in Komodo can help if you need to shorten the boat part. This page covers flying; a sea crossing is a different trip, and our page on the Lombok to Komodo route describes one version of it.
How long does it take to get there?
The flight is the short part. Airport time and the sailing into the park take the journey well beyond it.
| Leg | Stated time | Origin |
|---|---|---|
| Denpasar to Labuan Bajo by air | About an hour | Labuan Bajo Tourism, an operator |
| Same flight | 1 hour 15 minutes | A Passion and a Passport, a travel blog |
| Labuan Bajo to the park by boat | A couple of hours | Seek Sophie, a booking agency |
The two flight times differ by a quarter of an hour and neither is a timetable, so use your airline's published time when you book. One operator's 2026 ballpark for the flight, each way, is in this page's price table. For the airlines and booking logic in more depth, see our page on flights to Labuan Bajo.
How far is Komodo from Bali? In practical terms, that flight plus a boat ride. Our sources give travel time and no distance, so we do not print a distance, and it would help you less than the timings would.
How many days should you set aside?
Start from the boat and add a margin on each side. Hello Flores, an operator, says to add an extra day for travel. A Passion and a Passport spent a night in town on each side of its boat. Working from those two descriptions, the arithmetic for a boat of four days and three nights looks like this:
| Pattern | Days away from Bali | Nights away | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|---|
| No town nights: fly in on boarding day, fly out on landing day | 4 | 3, all aboard | A flight landing before boarding and another leaving after the boat is back. No margin at all. |
| One night before the boat | 5 | 4 | The same-day flight out on the last day still has to work |
| One night before and one after | 6 | 5 | The pattern A Passion and a Passport describes |
The table is our arithmetic and no seller's schedule. It does show why five or six days is the sensible request to make of your calendar. The first pattern looks tempting on paper, but a boat may not wait for a delayed flight, so assume it will not unless the seller says otherwise in writing. Our page on Labuan Bajo before a Komodo boat trip covers what those town nights involve.
What is the Bali levy?
UK government travel advice notes a tourist levy for foreign tourists arriving in Bali, and the amount appears in this page's price table. It is tied to arriving in Bali and is separate from the boat fare and the park ticket. If you arrive in Bali from abroad, read your own government's current advice on how and when to pay it, and on whether your particular route affects it.
How should you time the boat?
Pick the boat first and fit the flights around it, particularly on a shared trip. Shared trips come with fixed departure constraints that private boats avoid, according to Seek Sophie. Komodo Touristic, a seller, gives Monday or Friday as common shared departure days from Labuan Bajo, for the three-day boats it lists. Four-day departure days vary, so ask the provider before you buy any ticket.
To show how the weekdays could work, assume a four-day boat leaving on one of those two days and the six-day pattern above:
- Monday boat: fly from Bali on Sunday, sail Monday to Thursday, sleep in town on Thursday night, fly back on Friday.
- Friday boat: fly from Bali on Thursday, sail Friday to Monday, sleep in town on Monday night, fly back on Tuesday.
This is an illustration only, and we are not stating that a four-day boat runs on these days. Things to settle before paying for flights:
- The boarding time and place on day 1, and the latest time you could join.
- The expected time back in port on the last day, and how firm it is.
- What happens to your fare if your flight is delayed or cancelled.
- Whether your hotel is in a pick-up area. Seek Sophie warns that resorts outside town can limit shared boat pick-up, so base yourself in town for the night before.
- If Bali to Labuan Bajo is a separate ticket from your international flight, how you would recover from a missed connection. A later flight on a separate ticket may be at your own cost, so leave generous time.
Bali holidays often carry other fixed bookings, such as villas or onward flights. Enter those dates first, then see which boats fit the gap.
What else do Bali travellers ask about Komodo?
How do you get to Labuan Bajo from Bali?
By air from Denpasar. Wikipedia's airport page lists Batik Air and Indonesia AirAsia on the route as of November 2026, and Labuan Bajo Tourism puts the flight at about an hour while one travel blog says 1 hour 15 minutes. Check the airline for current flights.
How far is Komodo Island from Bali?
Published figures give time and not distance: the flight to Labuan Bajo, then a boat that takes hours more to reach the park, by Seek Sophie's estimate.
How do you get to Komodo Island from Bali?
Fly to Labuan Bajo and join a boat there. Plan for at least one night in town if you can, since Hello Flores advises an extra day for travel. Boats and their stops vary, so confirm that Komodo Island is on your plan.
Is Komodo Island near Bali?
It is close enough for a short flight but not for a casual day out. You still need the flight to Labuan Bajo and then the sailing into the park, so plan it as a trip of its own with several days set aside.
Will a boat wait if my flight from Bali is late?
Do not assume it. Ask the seller in writing what happens if you miss boarding, whether you can join later, and what you lose. Flying the day before reduces the exposure.
Which published prices did we check?
Official fees and public third-party listings, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Fees and fares change, and sources sometimes disagree, so check the source before you rely on a figure.
| Item | Published price | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bali to Labuan Bajo flight, each way (operator's 2026 ballpark) | IDR 800,000 to 1,600,000 | labuanbajotourism.com | Nov 2026 |
| Bali tourist levy, foreign tourists arriving in Bali (UK government advice) | IDR 150,000 | gov.uk | Nov 2026 |

How do I reach the desk?
Give the desk your Bali dates and it can ask providers about that window, including any departure days they state. No boat, flight or transfer is promised here. Our interest is commercial, as a request may become a paid booking, and terms apply only once a written offer sets out the price, any fee and the contracting company.
